After years of intense work, interdisciplinary collaboration, and many lessons learned, the LIFE-4-Fgases project was successfully completed last September.
The aim of this project was to demonstrate the full-scale feasibility of a hybrid system (membranes + adsorption processes) for the selective recovery and reuse of fluorinated gases present in commercial mixtures used in the refrigeration sector.

With the end of the project, the challenges defined for it have been achieved:
- The operation of a system combining membrane and adsorption technology to treat 1 kg/h of depleted F-gases has been demonstrated.
- A purity of R-32 greater than 99.5% has been achieved, complying with ARHI Standard 700, which defines the quality required for the use of F-gases in different applications.
- More than 90% of the R-32 present in the depleted mixtures has been recovered.

Life-4-Fgases plants implemented at the facilities of Ambigroup, a waste management company and project partner.
Thank you to all the people and institutions that have made this possible.
