Safe water for an orphanage in Tanzania

Apria has participated in the implementation of a system for the production of drinking water in an orphanage in the Tanzanian town of Mto wa Mbu.

This action has been developed within the framework of the MAJISALAMA project (Safe Water in Swahili), funded by the V Convocatoria de Proyectos de Cooperación al Desarrollo, Ciudadanía Global y Derechos Humanos. The project has been led by a URJC research group and in collaboration with the NGO Juntos Mola Más (JMM).

The implemented system consists of a pretreatment filter followed by photochemical equipment with LED UV-C technology. All this is coupled with a solar panel, for the production of electricity, and a storage battery, so that the equipment can operate autonomously at no additional cost to users.

The use of this system, developed by Apria, has significantly improved the water quality of the AMANI community, showing the absence of pathogenic bacteria in successive analyses.
